Located at 1600 metres above sea level, Kimbolton is renowned for it's lovely climate and rich, fertile soil - making Kimbolton a haven for gardeners. Kimbolton is a friendly and welcoming rural community, and has incredible views out over the surrounding countryside, valleys and out to the Ruahine Ranges. Sport is an important part of the community, with a bowling club, and a large and very active rugby club.
Originally called Birmingham, Kimbolton is named after Kimbolton village in Cambridgeshire, England. Kimbolton has a rich and colorful history, and still today many of the original buildings remain. The village library is run from a quaint little cottage, which was one of the first homes built in the township.
